REPLAY: Relaxed
Enjoy a world of play and imagination in our recycled playground, in sessions for children and their families who would benefit from a gentler, less busy space.
Part installation, part adventure playground, REPLAY is a space built entirely out of waste materials repurposed for fun by The Herd Theatre.
REPLAY: Relaxed has a maximum capacity of 30 people, while our standard sessions can have up to 60.
We’ve created this reduced capacity session for those who might need a less busy space, so that as many families as possible can feel comfortable and welcome to engage with this imaginative play space.
All sessions – not only the Relaxed sessions – feature lighting and sound which has been designed to avoid sudden changes of brightness or loudness, and there are no flashing lights.
This is intended to make REPLAY suitable for audiences with sensory sensitivities. This may include neurodivergent or autistic children, young people and adults; or those with sensory or communication needs.
Children and their grown-ups are invited to play side-by-side in this space full of things you can move, change, combine, wear and reimagine.
The Herd Theatre is based in Hull and makes shows, installations and experiences for children and families. They play alongside children to create artworks that celebrate, interrogate and nurture the joy of childhood.
REPLAY was commissioned by Southbank Centre as part of Planet Summer 2023. It is a co-production by Southbank Centre and The Herd Theatre.
Need to know
REPLAY is a one-hour experience from start to finish, including 45 minutes of self-led play time.
Every adult and child needs a ticket, apart from babes in arms aged under 6 months at the time of the event.
All children must be accompanied by an adult. No unaccompanied adults are allowed.
This experience is self-led. This means it is up to you how you play in the space to make sure you keep yourself and your family group safe while playing. There are two members of staff in the space at all times to answer any questions, but they are not solely responsible for your safety.
We know that some people like to know what to expect from an event before attending. You can read our REPLAY ‘Access Information and What to Expect Guide’ to prepare for your visit.
