On Palestine & Kashmir: Isabella Hammad & Mirza Waheed

The authors come together for a unique discussion about Palestine, Kashmir and the parallels and divergences in their modern struggles with colonialism.

They discuss art and consciousness around the dual ruptures of 1948, reportage and narration of historical insurgency and their own roles as artists working from within the imperial core.

Isabella Hammad is the author of The Parisian, Recognizing the Stranger and the novel Enter Ghost, which received the Aspen Prize, the Clark Prize, and the Encore Award. She has taught literature and creative writing at NYU, Brown University and Al Quds Bard College.

Mirza Waheed was born and brought up in Kashmir. His debut novel, The Collaborator, was an international bestseller, and his latest novel Tell Her Everything won the Hindu Prize for Fiction 2019.

Presented in partnership with the Palestine Festival of Literature.
