Nick Cave & Matt Smith: The Death of Bunny Munro
Join author and composer Nick Cave and lead actor Matt Smith for a preview of Sky’s TV adaptation of Cave’s acclaimed second novel, with chair Edith Bowman.
Following his wife Libby’s death by suicide, sex-addicted door-to-door beauty salesman and self-professed lothario Bunny Munro finds himself saddled with his young son, Bunny Junior – and only a loose concept of parenting.
As the two struggle to contain their grief in wildly different ways, Bunny takes Junior on an increasingly out-of-control sales tour around Brighton, where he is forced to confront what kind of man – and father – he really is.
This event features a screening of the first two episodes of Sky’s new six-part limited series based on Cave’s 2009 novel, followed by an on-stage conversation with Cave and Smith on the journey of bringing The Death of Bunny Munro from page to screen.
Produced by Clerkenwell Films, the team behind Baby Reindeer and The End of the F***ing World, directed by Isabella Eklöf (Holiday, Kalak) and adapted by Pete Jackson (Somewhere Boy), the series features a brand-new score by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis.
Edith Bowman is an award-winning radio broadcaster, podcast host and television presenter whose broadcasting career has flourished over more than two decades. She hosts Cinematic Soundtracks for BBC Radio 3’s newly launched Unwind Stream and her other work has spanned all the major radio stations and television channels, including the BBC, Channel 4, Sky Arts, and MTV.
