Mix & Move: Carnival Ceilidh
Get your kicks with a mix of traditional ceilidh steps and street dance grooves in a joyful summer edition of our welcoming dance workshops for everyone.
This event is hosted by our resident dancers Damien Anyassi and Natasha Khamjani of Folk Dance Remixed, who bring a feel-good fusion of folk and hip-hop styles, and an inclusive, high-energy vibe that gets everyone moving!
This session brings the vibe of Carnival to The Clore Ballroom, with guest DJ Linett Kamala turning up the heat. The first female DJ to run a sound system at Notting Hill Carnival and now a board member, she brings the party with irresistible Caribbean rhythms and street party energy warming you up for a weekend of celebration of Carnival’s 40th anniversary.
Expect a blend of traditional ceilidh steps with street dance grooves, great tunes and plenty of chances to connect and move together. As always, all movement is adapted to suit all bodies and levels, with seated and standing options throughout.
Showcasing dance styles and dancers from across the globe, Mix & Move is our monthly programme of dance workshops to get you moving to the music.
You don’t need to be a dancer, nor have experience or a partner: Mix & Move is just about getting together and getting going to the music!
Stick around for a final social hour once the workshop has finished at 5pm. We’ll keep the music going so you can practice your new moves!
