Kirill Richter: Towards the Beloved City
Heartbreak, memory, resilience and quiet hope shape the composer and pianist’s upcoming album, performed here in its UK premiere with the Richter Trio.
This is music for anyone who’s ever felt lost and still kept going; for anyone searching for a place or a person that feels like home.
Alongside new works, the concert includes Richter’s most beloved pieces, known for their cinematic beauty, lyrical precision and emotional honesty.
‘My music is a soundtrack for life. The stories I tell somehow resonate with other lives. This is when the feeling of all of us speaking the same language is born,’ says Richter.
Richter is one of the most prominent voices in contemporary classical music, known for his emotionally charged compositions that bridge concert stages, cinema and dance. His works have featured in major events including the FIFA World Cup Opening Ceremony and he has composed original scores for ballets including Seven Ages (with Marco Goecke).
