Kindred
Join us for the return of Kindred Spirit, a night of eclectic soul, R&B, jazz and spoken word, featuring a line-up of up-and-coming and established musicians.
The live music night, also known as Kindred, was founded by Ivor Novello and Brit Award-winning songwriter Michelle Escoffery and quickly grew into a premier monthly live event in London between 2000 and 2009.
It became a home and development ground to many of the UK’s finest artists, including Brit- and Grammy-nominated Corrinne Bailey-Rae; Slam Champion poet and author Kat Francois; Mercury Prize-nominee TY; and more.
This edition’s line-up includes AmeN Noir, Strama and Heidi Vogel.
AmeN NoiR is a prominent and multi-talented artist known for his lyrical wizardry, stage presence and contributions to the world of poetry and performance. He has written and produced six albums, produced and created a documentary, and is currently due to release his seventh studio album, Brainstorming.
Raised in the Netherlands, and currently London based, Strama is Italian-Romanian, connecting her to multiple cultures and sounds. She grew up listening to her parent’s jazz, motown, classical and cinematic record collection, while training as a classical pianist. A self-taught producer, her combination of influences and blend of genres combine to form her distinctly versatile alt R&B/pop sound, featuring empowering rhythms, dreamy and soulful vocals, and silky jazz-tinged melodies.
A vocalist with The Cinematic Orchestra since 2006, Heidi Vogel has opened for Erykah Badu in Dubai, performed at Montreux Jazz Festival for Quincy Jones and appeared live on The Jimmy Kimmel Show on ABC. Her debut album, Turn Up the Quiet, sees her performing Brazilian bossa nova and jazz classics in contrast to her work in EDM house classics, as well as broken beat, hip hop and drum and bass.
