Keep Singing, Singing, Singing Out
Be part of an anthemic afternoon celebrating Self Esteem’s love of choirs and the powerful lyricism of her music.
Come along for an uplifting event featuring performances from feminist, trans-inclusive choirs, each performing a specially-arranged Self Esteem song.
Plus, catch sets inspired by the themes of empowerment, identity, self-love, resilience, perseverance and hope, and join in with a Big Sing with a live band, led by Music Director Jessie Maryon Davies, who welcomes all to raise their voices and sing a medley of songs by Self Esteem.
Schedule
2.30pm – 3pm: Some Voices
3.30pm – 4pm: Neighbourhood Voices
4.30pm – 5pm: Lips
5.30pm – 6.45pm: Big Sing with live band
7.15pm – 7.45pm: Las Witchas! Collective
Las Witchas! Collective is a multidisciplinary group of migrant artists, started in London in 2022 with the aim of amplifying feminine power through music, spoken word, performance, movement and visual art. Their music fuses traditional drum-based rhythms from Abya Yala, such as cumbia, bullerengue, currulao, sangueo and mapalé with contemporary sounds.
Formed in 2009, Lips Choir has grown from a small group of friends who loved to sing, to a 100-strong musical force to be reckoned with. Led by dynamic musical director Jessie Maryon Davies, Lips is a women’s choir for people who identify as female, trans and gender non-conforming.
Neighbourhood Voices is a non-auditioned contemporary, secular choir that sings a range of (mostly) a cappella pop, indie and alternative music. Based in Sheffield, and founded in 2017 by Gina Walters and co-led with Liv Muir, they welcome female-identifying, trans and non-binary singers from all backgrounds.
Some Voices’ musical directors Laura Howe and Curtis Stansfield have developed Some Voices’ signature sound and style with their original arrangements of popular tracks spanning disco, pop, folk, hip-hop, rap, indie and more, all brought together with stunning harmonies and a Some Voices twist.
