Kara Jackson
The singer wields her voice like a honey-coated blade, crafting a blend of emotional folk music and poetic alt-country.
With the spirit of Nina Simone, and the intricate lyricism of Joni Mitchell and Joana Newsom, Jackson’s writing, inspired by the American South and her experiences growing up in Chicago, blurs the line between poetry and song, demanding an attentive ear and a repeat listen.
Her debut album, Why Does the Earth Give Us People to Love?, released in April 2023, garnered support from the likes of Pitchfork, NPR, Billboard Magazine and Rolling Stone.
Support comes from London-based singer Konyikeh, who continues to charm audiences with her powerful voice, poignant lyrics and soulful rhythms. Pulling from her Jamaican-Cameroonian roots, and her classical background, Konyikeh blends a range of influences to create her own unique brand of R&B. British Vogue has credited the young singer-songwriter with ‘ushering in a new era of soul for Gen-Z’ and Fader says her ‘voice is impossible to ignore’.
