futuretense: Rita Kamale + Lydia Lutudi
Tune into the sounds of the future with alt-R&B rhythms and rock-heavy hooks from two musical forces of nature, in this edition of our free gig series.
Born in Casablanca, Morocco and thriving in London’s creative underground, Rita Kamale is a powerful experimentalist, vocalist, rapper and producer pushing the boundaries of alternative R&B, Gnawa dub, and Afro-jazz. Her music is a hypnotic fusion of ancestral North African rhythms, soulful melodies and avant-garde production.
Lydia Lutudi is an electrifying, genre-defying artist, vocalist and powerhouse frontwoman of Congolese and Native American heritage. Her music fuses the raw grit of rock, the soulful depth of 70s-inspired melodies and the anthemic energy of pop, combining heavy riffs, infectious funk grooves and stadium sized choruses. On stage, she delivers a live experience that feels like both a rebellion and a revelation.
