futuretense: Jeffrey The KiDDD + The Black Esper
Catch cheeky tunes and cautionary tales at a free double bill of R&B, hip-hop and neo-soul from up-and-coming artists Jeffrey the KiDDD and The Black Esper.
Born and raised in London, Jeffrey The KiDDD brings his sultry vocals and tongue in cheek lyrics to 1990s/early 2000s R&B music, reimagined for a modern crowd. Michael Jackson, Usher, Chris Brown, Lauryn Hill and Destiny’s Child are some of his key musical influences, and he’s been a background singer for artists such as Ed Sheeran and Cat Burns.
The Black Esper is a hip-hop fusion artist who channels his energetic creativity into unique and profound musical explorations of the self. Fusing alternative hip-hop with genres including afrobeats, neo-soul, EDM, lo-fi and jazz, he creates eclectic soundscapes layered with introspective storytelling exploring the self-destructive nature of pursuing dreams.
Presented in collaboration with BBC Introducing.
