Freudian Typo: Artist Panel

Join the members of artistic collective Freudian Typo to discuss their multi-layered new exhibition with fellow artist and writer Dave Beech.

Ghazaleh Avarzamani and Ali Ahadi are joined by Dave Beech in a conversation moderated by Thomas Sutton, Assistant Curator at the Hayward Gallery.

Together they discuss Freudian Typo’s new exhibition, an incisive critique tailored to the Hayward Gallery’s context in the heart of London – a city which across centuries of empire and capitalism has profoundly shaped the modern world.

She has exhibited at the Aga Khan Museum, Toronto, MOCA Toronto, Dhaka Art Summit and Frieze Sculpture Park among many and her work is held in collections including the Art Gallery of Ontario, Rockefeller Center, Arsenal Contemporary, MOCA Toronto, TD Art Collection, Google and Red Mansion.

Ali Ahadi is an artist and scholar based in Vancouver, Canada. His practice spans site-specific installations, sculpture, photo and video-based works, writing and translation. He has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions at Griffin Art Projects, Ag Galerie, Tehran’s 8th Sculpture Biennial, Milan Image Art, Grunt Gallery , Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery, and Richmond Art Gallery, to name a few. He holds a PhD and MFA from the University of British Columbia where he currently teaches.

Born into a working-class community in Warrington in the mid-1960s, Dave Beech is an artist and writer. He is Reader in Art and Marxism at University of the Arts London. He is the author of Art and Labour, Art and Postcapitalism and Art and Value. His solo art practice revisits the critical traditions of photomontage, documentary photography, digital print, the photo archive, and the photobook through post-conceptual processes of material metamorphosis.
