DJ Set: Sinemis
Turkish producer Sine Buyuka, aka Sinemis, combines left-field electronics with techno-inflected contemporary classical in two free sets.
Sinemis is the solo project of Buyuka. Her first release was the single ‘Medi’ in the Wind Layers compilation on 7K! in 2021, followed by her mini-album Dua on Injazero Records in November 2022.
She took part in the Piano Day compilation with composer James Heather on Nils Frahm’s label Leiter in 2023.
Sine Buyuka worked as a culture and arts journalist and hosted a radio show in her hometown Istanbul before moving to London in 2012. She currently runs the avant-garde label Injazero Records, hosts a monthly radio show on sound art station Resonance Extra and is a professor of electronic music at Guildhall.
Her mixes have been featured on Worldwide FM, Resonance FM, OpenLab, Resident Advisor, Soho Radio and NTS. She has performed at venues like Somerset House, Iklectik Art Lab and St Matthias Church, festivals like Sonar Istanbul and on stage with musicians such as James Heather, Specimens, Midori Hirano, Laila Sakini and Chantal Michelle.
