David Nicholls: You Are Here
Join us for an evening with beloved author David Nicholls in conversation with Dolly Alderton about his award-winning career and latest novel, You Are Here.
David Nicholls is one of the most beloved writers in the English language, a master storyteller who can be laugh-out-loud funny and devastatingly moving on the same page.
It’s twenty years since his debut novel, Starter for Ten, became a cult bestseller, nearly fifteen years since his novel One Day became an international publishing phenomenon and an iconic love story for a generation, and nine years since Us took him to the Man Booker Prize long-list. David’s sixth and highly anticipated new novel, You Are Here, is published in April.
David is also one of our most talented and sought-after screenwriters. Highlights have included adaptations of Far from the Madding Crowd, When Did You Last See Your Father? and Great Expectations. His adaptation of Edward St Aubyn’s Patrick Melrose, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, was nominated for an Emmy and won him a BAFTA for best writer.
Dolly Alderton is a writer and broadcaster. She has written four Sunday Times best-selling books, Everything I Know About Love, a memoir, Ghosts, a novel, Dear Dolly, collected wisdom from her Sunday Times style column and her newest novel, Good Material.
She wrote and executive-produced the TV adaptation of Everything I Know About Love, shown on BBC One in the UK and Peacock in the US over summer 2022. She has also hosted the number one podcasts The High Low, Love Stories and Sentimental in the City.
She has written a column for The Sunday Times Style since 2015 and is their resident Agony Aunt.
