British Sign Language Tours: Chiharu Shiota & Yin Xiuzhen

Join us for a BSL tour of our two Hayward Gallery exhibitions, as artist Rubbena Aurangzeb-Tariq leads you through their themes and inspirations.

Aurangzeb-Tariq is a London-based artist and facilitator whose work concerns culture, deaf identity and, as a deaf woman of Pakistani heritage, the multi-faceted nature of being a ‘minority within a minority’.

Through painting and installations, she creates visual representations of language and emotional expression through her use of colour and form. She has exhibited widely nationally and internationally and has featured several times on national TV.

In this tour, discover Chiharu Shiota: Threads of Life, featuring the artist’s immense and intricate web-like installations, exploring the body, memory, consciousness and the fragility of existence.

You also explore Yin Xiuzhen: Heart to Heart, where artworks made from unconventional materials and overlooked objects reveal personal and collective stories.
