An Evening with Sarah Koenig: 10 Years of Serial

A decade on from the launch of the pioneering podcast, host Sarah Koenig talks uncovering stories and more, as part of The International Women’s Podcast Festival.

On October 3 2014, a podcast launched which changed the face of podcasting forever. Serial became the first podcast to win a Peabody Award, and has since been downloaded 420 million times, making it the most listened-to podcast in the history of the form.

Sarah Koenig is the host and co-creator of the award-winning podcast Serial, now heading into its fourth season and credited with bringing mainstream attention to the podcast format.

In 2015, Koenig was named one of Time magazine’s ‘100 Most Influential People’.

Serial’s latest podcast with The New York Times is The Retrievals, a five-part series exploring the shocking events that unfolded at a fertility clinic at Yale University.

Presented in partnership with The International Women’s Podcast Festival with Spotify.

‘I would follow Ms. Koenig’s work wherever it took her. She is an agile writer of cool, declarative sentences. Her voice – literate, probing, witty, seemingly without guile – is an intoxicating one to have in your head.’
