As a lead into the series, which explored the different sides to his revolutionary works, we put together this special chronological playlist to offer a taste of the remarkable musical mind of Karlheinz Stockhausen.

Beginning in 1950 with Chöre für Doris – a three-movement a capella choral composition dedicated to the composer’s first wife, Doris Stockhausen, née Andreae – the playlist ends with Third Hour from Klang, the cycle of compositions Stockhausen was working on at the time of his death in 2007.
