Your Space
An interactive day of creativity, care and connection
In October 2025 we hosted a day of free taster workshops for young people exploring themes of imagination, freedom, nature, safety and self-expression.
Each of these workshops was led by our Artists Advisory Collective, an inspiring group of artists we’re working with to imagine and shape the future of our Arts & wellbeing programme for young people like you.
In 2026 we’re launching a new Arts & wellbeing youth programme; a space for young people aged 11-25 to build community, learn new skills, and explore and experience the joy of the arts and creativity.
Ahead of that launch we’re gathering ideas to help determine how this programme will look, by working with artists, young people and arts and health organisations, and by running trial events, like this one.
What is our Artist Advisory Collective?
It’s a group of five artist-practitioners whose practice centres and responds to supporting young people, and their mental health and wellbeing. These artists are helping us determine how best we can create space for young people to experience the transformative power of creativity and the arts, and thrive within it.

Key aspects
What Your Space involved
Workshops led by local artists which gave young attendees the opportunity to get creative and hangout.
It was also a chance for them to share and input their ideas about our new Arts & Wellbeing youth programme, and to find out about our new Youth Collective.
Who was Your Space for?
These workshops were open to young people based in South London; with those aged 11 – 15 attending the morning session, and those aged 16 – 19 joining us in the afternoon.
Attendees were welcome to come as a group, with a friend, or on their own.
Access
Throughout the day quieter chill-out spaces were available with low lighting and comfortable seating. Sensory items, including stim toys, were also available with attendees welcome to bring their own.
Lunch, snacks and refreshments were available throughout the day, with young people free to come and go as they pleased.
Workshop schedule
Morning Session
For ages 11 – 15
Acts of Noticing with Natalie Mitchell
Participants roamed the Southbank Centre’s outdoor and upper-level spaces, using sensory and creative tools to take part in Acts of Noticing. They experimented with photography, handheld scanners, texture rubbing, sound recording and writing to explore the textures, sounds and rhythms of the city. Together they addressed the questions of how do we feel when we stop rushing and really listen to our surroundings? What traces and fragments make up the places we live in?
Rhythm & Nature with MoYah & Solomon Adams
Attendees were invited to step into the Southbank Centre roof garden and blend rhythm, words, and the sounds of nature. Through spoken word, rap, and music production, using devices that capture the hidden voices of the garden, they explored how green spaces in the city can spark creativity and support wellbeing.
Afternoon Session
For ages 16 – 19
Visibly Hidden with Meera Shakti Osborne
Participants were invited to an often unseen corner of the Southbank Centre’s roof garden to visually respond to questions about safety, surveillance and a right to privacy. Together the young people made collective artworks that could be viewed by the public from outside, while they remained hidden from sight.
Theatre for Worldbuilding with Eve Atkinson
The young attendees were invited to imagine another world. Experimenting with theatre as a tool for freedom and peace, this immersive workshop was a space to gather, be present and play. Games, movement and storytelling were used to help participants dream together, connect more deeply and create something new from their collective imagination.
