Sabrina Mahfouz
Sabrina Mahfouz is a critically-acclaimed, award-winning writer and maker who grew up between London and Cairo and works across mediums to take stories out of the margins.
Her many theatre shows include A History of Water in the Middle East (Royal Court), the BBC Drama Award-winning With a Little Bit of Luck (Roundhouse and BBC), the Fringe First Award-winning Chef (Soho Theatre) and Metamorphoses, co-written as part of the inaugural Writer in Residence program at Shakespeare’s Globe. She also writes and produces TV, including, most recently, Beef (Netflix), Golf (Netflix), Full Circle (HBO) and #1 Happy Family USA (Amazon).
Mahfouz has written books including These Bodies of Water: Notes on the British Empire, the Middle East and Where We Meet (Tinder Press); poetry with her Guardian Book of the Year, How You Might Know Me (Out Spoken Press), and has edited a number of anthologies, including The Things I Would Tell You: British Muslim Women Write (Saqi) and Poems from a Green and Blue Planet (Hachette).
A Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature Mahfouz has been nominated for a Women in the Creative Industries Award and won a King’s Award for Arts & Culture and a Sky Arts Award for poetry and performance.
