Natasha Chivers
Natasha Chivers is an Olivier Award winning and Tony Award nominated lighting designer with over 30 years experience.
Chivers’ work has been seen in more than 20 countries worldwide, in venues and spaces ranging from the Berghain nightclub in Berlin to Kensington Palace, from an old jam factory near Tower Bridge to Studio 54 in New York.
Among her many theatre credits are the West End and Broadway productions of Oedipus, Prima Facie and The Hills of California; Inter Alia (at the National Theatre and in the West End); Evening All Afternoon (Donmar Warehouse); The Antipodes (National Theatre); Macbeth (National Theatre of Scotland, Broadway and Japan) and Oresteia (West End, Park Avenue Armory and Almeida). While Chivers’ dance credits include Peaky Blinders (Rambert and world tour); Aisha and Abhaya (Royal Ballet); Message in A Bottle (Sadlers Wells and on tour); Strapless, Electric Counterpoint (Royal Ballet); Gravity Fatigue (Sadlers Wells) and the Royal Ballet Draft Works 2018-2021.
For her work on Prima Facie Chivers won the Drama Desk Award for outstanding lighting design for a play, and was nominated for an Olivier and Tony Award for best lighting design in a play. She was nominated for a Tony Award once again for her work on Hills of California, and won an Olivier Award for Sunday in the Park with George. In 2025 Chivers was given an honorary degree by Lamda, where she herself trained.
