Mike McCart
Mike McCart worked at Southbank Centre for 40 years in various directorships, finally serving as Board Secretary.
Within these roles he led the cultural planning, development and stakeholder management strategies that led to South Bank Rick Mather masterplan published in 2000. He secured the planning consent for all elements of the £120m refurbishment of the Grade I listed Royal Festival Hall which was completed in 2007. He also led the creation of the Jubilee Gardens Trust which delivered the £5m re-landscaping of Jubilee Gardens in partnership with Lambeth Council.
As Board Secretary, McCart was responsible for ensuring the smooth interface between the Board of Governors and our Executive Leadership Team.
After nine years as a trustee of Chichester Festival Theatre McCart was appointed an Independent Director of the charity’s two subsidiary companies, and he is currently a trustee of the Edward James Foundation which runs West Dean College of Arts and Conservation.
McCart is also chair of a local heathland conservation trust which owns and manages the fifth largest area of heathland in West Sussex.
